Professor Leonor A. P. de Medeiros

Archaeologist from Lisbon, Portugal, has done field work in various contexts and time periods, but focuses her research in the period between the XVIIIth and XXthcenturies.

Professor Medeiros has experience in corporate archaeology (was founder and manager of a small archaeological company between 2010 and 2012), project management and teaching, with several ongoing projects of inventory and documentation at industrial sites. She is currently Assistant Professor at the History Department of FCSH-UNL, where she teaches, among other courses: archaeology of architecture, industrial archaeology, and drawing of archaeological finds. Her research currently focuses on promoting heritage-led development at postindustrial areas.

Professor Medeiros has also been dedicated to the communication and valorization of Archaeology, being present in various actions of science communication. She was the national winner of the Famelab contest in 2011, a member of the Stand Up comedy group ” Cientistas de Pé (Standing Scientists)”, and co-organizes the national event “Festa da Arqueologia (Archaeology Fair)”.

She is currently President of APAI – Portuguese Association of Industrial Archaeology, and Researcher at CHAM – Humanities Center at FCSH-UNL
